Lama al-Ghamdi was the daughter of Fayhan al-Ghamdi, an Islamic preacher who makes regular appearances on television. Under Saudi Sharia law, al-Ghamdi was released from prison after he paid £31,500 in 'blood money', after confessing to the heinous crime.
As you can see in the report below from CNN Al-Ghamdi admitted using a cane and cables to inflict the injuries after doubting his five-year-old daughter’s virginity and taking her to a doctor.
Children have no protection under Sharia Laws in Saudi Arabia, this fact alone explains the rising numbers of child marriages, honor killings and the execution of minors.
Fathers are not punished even for killing their daughters, because they are considered owner of their children’s blood.
According to Islamic tradition, the "honor" of the entire family is measured by women's behavior. Any action that may be perceived as harming the family's honor may cost the woman her life. In other words, a woman is required not only to obey Islam including its strict codes of modesty but also to completely obey her male guardians (husband, father, brother and even uncle).
