This report gives a small glimpse into the difficult lives of women and girls under the Sharia tradition in Afghanistan.
Women's rights in Afghanistan continue to be violated despite international efforts to intervene. A shocking number of women face domestic violence and abuse. A growing number of women are committing suicide because of a lack of trust in the justice system -- and with courts destroyed and judges killed, the situation shows little sign of improving.
Afghanistan is ruled by a brutal religious laws that violate women's rights and minority rights on a regular basis.
Sharia laws permits child marriage, forced marriage, child brides, polygamy, FGM, acid attacks, honor killings, flogging, beheading and stoning.
Unfortunately the UN ignores the crimes against humanity taking place in Afghanistan and has even elected the country to be a member of the UN Human Rights Council. Western countries must stop funding the UN which normalizes human rights violations.
